Code

While working on my B.Sc in Computer Science, I’ve been involved in several projects both professionally and academically. My area of focus is user interface and usability on the web, with over three years experience in design and implementation of AJAX web applications.

Recent projects I’ve worked on:

Kinzin 2.0
Kinzin 2.0 (launched Feb. 2009)

Kinzin’s relaunch as a social publishing tool opens up its photo sharing capabilities to families, sports teams, school clubs and more. The new Kinzin is now available on Kinzin.com.

I developed the photo navigation feature as an extension of jQuery’s jCarousel, as well as significant interface development on the product builder. In addition to other interface implementation, I focused on ensuring that the application worked consistently across all modern browsers.

Dynamick
Dynamick (Sep. 2008 – Nov. 2008)

Dynamick is a social networking site for musicians. It helps you meet local musicians, find ways to perform, plan upcoming events and form bands with other musicians.

I designed and implemented the user interface for the site, ensuring an intuitive experience for both members and guests.

These Are My Kids
These Are My Kids (launched Jan. 2008)

In an age where online privacy is a major issue, These Are My Kids allows you to safely share your photos of your kids with your family, wherever they are. Photos can be viewed online (Kinzin.com or Facebook) or delivered to your door for a nominal monthly fee.

I helped implement the design using CSS and Javascript (jQuery). Two versions of the site were created: an HTML version for Kinzin.com and an FBML version for the Facebook application.

Superstore
Superstore Self-Checkout System (Sep. 2007 – Nov. 2007)

Our team investigated the usability issues surrounding the Superstore grocery self-checkout and proposed improvements to the system. By creating a prototype with our enhancements, we tested our proposed design with people of different demographics to determine its efficacy. Won Best Human-Computer Interaction award.

Are You Normal?
Are You Normal? (launched Oct. 2007)
Link: http://apps.facebook.com/areyounormal

Are You Normal? is a fun quiz application that measures how normal you are in comparison to the rest of Facebook. With over 1 million users, Are You Normal? was one of the first viral Facebook applications.

I helped develop the interface of the application to the specifications of the design, ensuring that the styling was consistent between all modern browsers. It was particularly challenging to code the CSS within Facebook, since Facebook’s FBML strips out many CSS hacks that are normally used to fix browser quirks.

Boxer
Boxer (Jan. 2007 – Apr. 2007)

Boxer is a solution for Computer Science professors which allows students to take Java programming exams using an IDE. It provides a secure environment that disables access to Internet and unauthorized applications. Our product competed against other teams and was chosen by the client as the best solution.

I designed and developed the web-based administration interface that allows professors to create exams and manage students. Because it allows remote administration access, Excel/CSV import, find-as-you-type search and simple interface design, our client preferred it over the other solutions presented.

WebCT Software Test Suite (Apr. 2006 – Jul. 2006)

Designed and developed a Web-based interface to run automated tests and report summarized results on Blackboard’s WebCT e-learning product.

AJAX Content Management System (Jan. 2005 – Aug. 2005)

Designed and implemented a Web-based AJAX content management system for one45 Software, Inc. to store information about medical school students, residents and faculty. Increased end user productivity by focusing on usability.
